More Body Fittings

The bonnet lid was attached along with all it's fittings.

Like the factory, the prop rod was left black.  A wooden bracer piece along with a felt backing was installed at the nose to help to stiffen this area. A felt piece was also glued further back which when the hood is down will rest on the radiator, forcing air through the rad instead of around it.

The following two pictures show the bonnet installed but not aligned yet (slightly raised on the drivers side, half way down). The door fit can be viewed here also, although the door bumpers need to be trimmed to allow the door to close all the way.

To align the bonnet, small shims were used so the curve between the body tub and bonnet is consistent. The release latch and wind latch were attached and aligned.

With the car being back home progress will slow down a bit, although this winter is warm my garage is not heated. Work will be reserved for particularly warm days.

  1. Looks gorgeous! The colour seems excellent but it's really hard to get the "feel" for the red with the vagarities of camera, software and monitor. I imagine you're getting very antsy to have it on the road!

    1. I will have to get some outside pics to portray the honest colour. The actual colour is a true red, not as orange as some photos or as cherry red in other shots....some where in the middle.

  2. Those wheels really suit the car and the added "beefiness" of the wider, modern wheel gives the car a more muscular look. Is the overall diameter of the tyres close to original spec? Looks to be lots of clearance to the fenders.

    1. These tires are little taller and wider than originals 175/65 vs 5.60~(155/80). I am a little concerned about the ride height, I'm hoping it settles down some with usage and/or weight. I may end up buying different springs.
